Fiat Chrysler Automobiles introduced the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio to the Asian market at the Auto China trade show in Beijing last Wednesday. The new high-performance premium SUV will remain on display at Auto China through Friday, May 4. Alfa Romeo's exhibit stand is in Hall E1 at the New China International Exhibition Center of Beijing.
The Stelvio is Alfa Romeo's first Quadrifoglio to also to be an SUV, Fiat Chrysler said in a statement, positioning the model as a "new benchmark in the premium compact SUV segment." With this launch, Alfa Romeo's full Quadrifogio family is now available in China, which Fiat Chrysler says makes "an ultimate expression of Italian passion" available to China's performance car aficionados.
Stelvio Quadrifoglio is equipped with the exclusive aluminium 2.9 V-6 Bi-Turbo gasoline engine, developed with inputs from Ferrari technologies and engineering know-how, which delivers maximum power of 510 HP at 6,500 rpm and generates a maximum torque of 600 Nm from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.
It's a powertrain that has Fiat Chrysler says has earned Stelvio Quadrifoglio a reputation as "the fastest SUV around the circuit," having clocked the new record for its class in "Green Hell"—the iconic Nürburgring: 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.
This powerplant is teamed with the specifically calibrated eight-speed automatic transmission that allows gear shifts in just 150 milliseconds in Race driving mode. Moreover, to maximize the driving experience, the model is equipped as standard with one-piece aluminium paddle shifters integral with the steering column.
