If you agree, and if your travels next month will take you anywhere near Excelsior, Minnesota, you just might want to grab some tickets to the sixth annual 10,000 Lakes Concours d'Elegance, set for Sunday, July 22, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m at Excelsior Commons along the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Collectors from throughout the U.S. will convene in Excelsior this year to display more than 180 rare, historic, and superbly-conditioned cars, boats, and motorcycles, some manufactured as far back as the 1900s.
Known in the vintage automotive hobby as the crème de la crème of the car-show world, a Concours d'Elegance (for those new to the term, that's French for "competition of elegance") is the most exacting category of automotive competition in terms of entry requirements and a set of meticulous judging criteria called "the French rules." Points are deducted for even the slightest imperfections, with each vehicle judged against a standard of flawlessly meeting or exceeding its original factory condition.
According to the organizers, the 10,000 Lakes Concours d'Elegance is the only event of its kind in Minnesota. Owners will be on-hand to share the stories behind their museum-quality vehicles with visitors who, in addition to the car show, will also have the opportunity to enjoy live music, cuisine from local food trucks, beer and wine, a kids' zone, pop-up entertainment, and vintage boat rides on the lake.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Bridging, a nonprofit organization serving the greater Minneapolis–St. Paul area that provides donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.
Tickets are available online now at the pre-sale rate of $20.00 each, a savings of $5.00 off the regular ticket price. Admission is free for children under 12 years old. For more information, visit 10000lakesconcours.com.
