Located in the heart of downtown Detroit at 400 Renaissance Center, GM World fills the five-story atrium at the center of the complex of seven interconnected skyscrapers where GM maintains its corporate headquarters on Detroit's International Riverfront.
The GM motorsports exhibition features 13 vintage and modern racing vehicles and pace cars from across the motorsports spectrum, timed to set the stage for the the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, a three-day racing festival that will run June 1–3 on Belle Isle in Detroit.
With more vehicles to come this summer, the GM motorsports exhibition at GM World launched with the following vehicles on display:
- 1967 Camaro Indy 500 pace car that was driven by Mauri Rose
- 2015 Corvette Indy 500 pace car that was driven by Jeff Gordon
- 2016 Camaro SS Indy 500 pace car that was driven by Roger Penske
- 2018 Silverado NASCAR support truck
- Silverado NASCAR Camping World Truck Series pace truck
- 2012 #90 Corvette Daytona Prototype
- 2018 #48 Camaro ZL1 Hendrick Motorsports Jimmie Johnson NASCAR race car
- 2018 Camaro ZL1 pace car
- 2017 Chevrolet IndyCar
- 2018 Camaro GT4.R “Blackdog Speed Shop” World Challange GTS race car
- 2001 Corvette C5-R American Le Mans Series race car
- 2015 Cadillac ATS-V.R IMSA GT-3 race car
- 1987 #5 Rick Mears Chevrolet-powered Penske PC17 IndyCar race car
The GM World experiential installation includes vehicle displays, large LED information screens and a vehicle turntable around the atrium’s center column. It is staffed by specialists who are available to answer questions about the displays as well as GM's current new-vehicle lineup.
Information on GM World hours and tours is available at the GM World Information Desk at the GM Renaissance Center. According to recorded information on the GM Renaissance Center's customer service line (313-567-3126), the Renaissance Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and closed Sundays and major holidays.
